A purchase request that says “30 ml gold dropper” leaves several questions open: which teat colour, plain or graduated pipette, and does the pipette fit the bottle you actually use? This article is a checklist for specifying ALU assembled droppers so that the first order matches what your filling line and your brand need.

See Droppers “ALU” category covers ready-assembled droppers with an aluminium collar, a polypropylene (PP) inner part, an NBR rubber teat and a straight-tip glass pipette. All of them use a DIN18 (GL18) thread. That shared base makes the range easy to specify, because only a few variables change from one item to the next.

What is fixed and what you choose

Every item in the ALU range shares the same construction. You do not need to specify these points separately, but you should know them when you compare options:

Keere: DIN18 (GL18) for all items.

Nibu materjal: NBR rubber.

Krae: aluminium outer, PP inner part.

Pipett: straight-tip glass, available plain or graduated.

The choices you make are bottle volume (which sets the pipette length), collar colour (silver, gold or rose), teat colour (white or black) and the pipette type.

Step 1: Start from the bottle, not the dropper

The dropper has to suit the bottle, so confirm the bottle first. Two checks matter:

Neck finish. The bottle must have a DIN18 (GL18) neck. If you are unsure, measure a sample before ordering. Our guide on DIN18/GL18 pipetipudeleid shows the range we supply, and we have a separate article on how cap thread is measured.

Nominal volume and height. Bottles with the same nominal volume can differ in height, which changes how far the pipette tip sits from the bottom of the bottle.

If you already have bottles from another source, send us a sample or the drawing. A short check at this stage is cheaper than a pallet of droppers that sit too high or touch the bottle base.

Step 2: Match the pipette length to the volume

In the ALU range, the pipette length follows the bottle volume. The table below lists the pairings in the product data.

Pudeli maht

Straight-tip glass pipette length

5 ml

48 mm

10 ml

58 mm

15 ml

63 mm

20 ml

70 mm

30 ml

77 mm

50 ml

90 mm

100 ml

108 mm

These lengths are designed for standard bottles of the listed volume. If your bottle has an unusual height, a different pipette length may be needed. In that case, look at a custom combination, or read our article on choosing pipette length for a dropper bottle.

Step 3: Decide between Day and Night

In the ALU range, “Day” and “Night” describe the teat colour. Day versions have a white NBR teat. Night versions have a black NBR teat. The collar colour and the rest of the construction are the same.

This is a design choice, not a technical one. Still, a few practical points are worth considering:

A white teat gives a lighter, cleaner look, but it shows marks more easily if the product is dark or oily.

A black teat hides staining and suits darker or more premium-looking packs.

Check that the teat colour works with your label, box and bottle colour together, not just with the collar.

Step 4: Pick the collar finish

The collar colour is the most visible part of the dropper. The range comes in three shiny aluminium finishes:

ALU Gold Day and ALU Gold Night for a warm, classic look.

ALU Silver Day and ALU Silver Night for a neutral, technical look.

ALU Rose Day and ALU Rose Night for a softer, warmer metallic tone.

If you prefer a non-glossy surface, the separate ALU Matte range may suit you better. For a more detailed look at finishes, see our article on aluminium collar droppers.

Whichever colour you choose, ask for a sample and view it next to your actual bottle and label under normal lighting. Metallic colours look different on screen than in hand.

Step 5: Plain or graduated pipette

Plain pipettes are the simpler option and are often enough when the customer draws liquid by eye or the dose is not measured. Graduated pipettes carry a scale that helps with measured use. If you choose graduated, define the following in your specification:

Which volume the scale should represent, and whether it matches your usage instructions.

Whether the scale is acceptable to your quality and labeling requirements.

Whether you need documents for printed scales. Our article on technical documents explains what to ask for.

If you need other pipette styles, the GraduFlow graduated glass pipettes are listed separately under parts and components.

Step 6: Check compatibility with your formula

The teat is the part most likely to react with the contents. NBR is a common choice for oils, but not every formula behaves the same way. Strong solvents, some essential oil blends and high-alcohol products can affect rubber over time. Before ordering at volume:

Fill a few sample bottles with your real product.

Store them with the dropper fitted, including at least one stored on its side or inverted if that is a realistic condition.

Inspect the teat for swelling, stickiness, deformation or colour change at intervals that match your intended shelf life.

This is a simple in-house check. It does not replace your own stability work, but it catches obvious incompatibility early.

Step 7: Plan for the filling and capping line

Aluminium collars have a shiny surface that can scuff. A few habits help protect the finish:

Use capping heads or chucks that grip without hard metal contact, and check them for wear.

Run a small trial batch to set the tightening force. Too little can cause leaks; too much can mark the collar or stress the bottle.

Keep droppers in their bags until they are needed, and avoid loose piles that let collars rub against each other.

Check the pipette tip against the bottle shoulder during the first assembled samples.

For small runs, hand capping works if the operator is consistent. For larger runs, see our articles on semi-automatic and automatic capping machines.

Step 8: Write the specification

Once the above is decided, put it all in one line. A complete specification for an order could look like this:

Bottle: 30 ml, DIN18 (GL18) neck

Dropper: ALU Gold Day, white NBR teat, gold aluminium collar with PP inner part

Pipette: 77 mm straight-tip glass, graduated

Quantity: number of cartons

Packing: any special requirement, such as individual bags

Share this with your supplier and your own incoming inspection team. It becomes your reference when checking deliveries.

Levinud vead, mida vältida

Ordering by collar colour alone and checking the pipette length later.

Assuming all bottles of the same volume have the same height.

Approving a collar colour from a screen image.

Skipping a compatibility trial with the real formula.

Not defining plain or graduated in the purchase order.

KKK

Do all ALU droppers fit the same bottle neck?

Yes. All items in the ALU range use a DIN18 (GL18) thread. The pipette length changes with bottle volume, so check that as well.

What is the difference between Day and Night versions?

Day versions have a white NBR teat and Night versions have a black NBR teat. Collar colours and construction are otherwise the same.

Can I order a plain or a graduated pipette?

Both options are available for the ALU range. State your choice clearly when you order.

Can I get samples before placing a larger order?

Yes.
